[dropcap]J[/dropcap]ust one point on the long list of reasons why Chrissy Teigen is my hero is her unfailing honesty, and now, she’s using it to talk about something that affects her and so many others all the time. In the July 2017 issue of Marie Claire — where she also just so happens to be featured on the cover — Teigen opened up about her anxiety, and even though this isn’t the first time she’s spoken publicly about it, her candor will definitely help anyone who can relate to her struggle. But then again, when has Teigen not been the kind of celebrity who is open about almost everything she deals with in her life, good or bad?

In the interview, Teigen revealed what having anxiety feels like for her, and for someone who lives so much of her life in the spotlight, it definitely sounds like it could be a difficult experience for her — especially since it also seems like it’s something she battles with every day. She said:

Obviously, everyone who suffers from anxiety is going to experience it in their own way, but I can relate to what Teigen is saying. For me personally, anxiety means questioning almost everything, including my own feelings, so it’s a relief to hear that Teigen might understand what I’m going through.

The wonderful thing about Teigen being so candid about her anxiety is what it’s doing to reduce the stigma surrounding it. When she spoke about her mental health battle earlier this year in an essay about her postpartum depression, she revealed she’s been taking antidepressants to manage her anxiety. It might be 2017, but medicating anxiety and depression can still be a very taboo topic, but if Teigen’s talking about it? Maybe it will open up a dialogue that can help everyone understand each other better.
